We wish you a pleasant stay in Lillestrøm and hope you have some time to spare to see and experience the town during your visit to NOR-Shipping on 6-9 June.
NOR-Shipping and the other exhibitions and happenings that NOVA Spekrum arranges are very important for Lillestrøm. The different events allow us to show off the town and all the exciting possibilities our region has to offer. Did you know, for example, that Lillestrøm boasts more than 50 restaurants in and around the town centre, and that you can start or round off the day with a jog through our beautiful sculpture park?
Experience Lillestrøm
You may also want to check out shopping opportunities during your stay. In the town centre there are a broad range of shops and niche boutiques that are absolutely worth a visit. We also have two easy-to-reach shopping centres – Lillestrøm Torv and Strømmen Storsenter, the latter has Norway’s largest selection of shops under one roof, and is just a short taxi ride away from NOVA Spektrum.
Many of us really appreciate the cultural experiences Lillestrøm has to offer. The NITJA senter for samtidskunst is located just a few minutes’ walk from NOVA Spektrum and offers many exhibitions by different contemporary artists throughout the year. You can also drop in to OSCAR Studio & Galleri or Lillestrøm Kultursenter. An overview of everything that is happening in town is available here.
If you have time for an excursion, we recommend a visit to the idyllic Fetsund Timber Booms. You can also ride an authentic steam train on the narrow-gauge Tertitten Urskog- Hølandsbanen railway just 10 minutes from NOVA Spektrum.
Growth region
The Lillestrøm region has a very diverse business base and boasts many leading research and educational hubs within the municipality. The IFE Institute for Energy Technology has over 720 employees from a total of 35 countries engaged in energy research, including renewable-energy solutions and future-oriented energy systems. Lillestrøm is also home to the FFI Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, while both the University of Oslo and OsloMet also have educational centres in the municipality.
Our region is also home to Akershus University Hospital (Ahus), which is renowned for its cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s research, among other specialties. Ahus is the largest single employer in the region with around 12,000 employees.
Both Lillestrøm Municipality and the surrounding region are currently experiencing strong growth both in population and commerce. Given our central location close to Oslo and Oslo Airport Gardermoen, we are the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to start and run a business.
We wish you a very pleasant stay in Lillestrøm and look forward to welcoming you back on a later occasion!
Best regards,
